I Will Take This Old Plane To Get To You

listening to deer tick reminds me of the times
i'd jump in my pickup and just drive off in any random direction.
i was sure to find some country road or another,
meandering through yellow fields of dried wild grass.
my keen sense of direction, a talent best used on childhood family road trips,
always keeping me going forward, for hours and miles and miles and hours.
before finally deciding to turn around and slowly make my way toward home.
today, instead, i walked aimlessly around town.

woke up when i felt like waking up this morning.
something i can't really do and haven't been able to do in months.
it's the best when you can lay there in bed with sleepy eyes
and know that you can remain under those covers as long as you want.
and that's what i did. ironically, i didn't want to stay very long.
funny how you have to yank yourself out of a good sleep
and slowly pour yourself out of bed and drag yourself into the shower
(i'm a morning showerer, mostly) on those days you have something to do.
and then there are those days you have all for yourself,
yet you can't wait to get out of bed.
except for those especially cozy-blanket, fluffy-pillow days.
cool, crisp, clean sheets...

i've a slight headache from earlier, watching a movie in a horrible posture.
i should drink more water. i may be dehydrated.

eagle vs. shark is all right. i wanted more. i was disappointed.
rocket science is okay. the first half was the better half.

new season of lost starts tonight.
fuckin' lost is on tonight!

when the girl in the apartment next to mine smokes on her doorstep
the smoke from her cigarette seeps through my second-floor a/c unit.
i think she's smoking out there right now.

i haven't held snow in my hand in several years.
i hope i can go snowboarding at least once this season.
for a guy who really digs winter, i'm quite tired of this rain.

lately, i've had a faint aspiration to bake. a pie. and cakes.
i actually spent some time pricing stand mixers on amazon.
i think i need to go to the supermarket and buy a box of brownie mix.
hopefully that'll settle this baking thing and save me a couple hundred dollars.

two quotes i found today:
- a woman's beauty comes to life when she gives in to spontaneity
and expresses her sense of humour without reserve.
- as time goes by, beauty is enhanced by character.

Rosie Cheeks And Goosebumps

i took the trusted old mountain bike
up to trader joe's in search for some dinner.
it took only thirty minutes round trip!
i impressed myself with that kind of time.
now i have a good burn in my legs.
legs that are so tired from the workout,
i can't walk without wobbling just a bit.
i feel good!
all of a sudden i want to go up to the sierra!
adrenaline is pumping. i'm pumped!
let's go!
no wait. dinners ready.
i'll go some other time.

i missed the registration deadline for eligibility
to vote in the california primary election.

Wine And The Dirty Pile

i need to clean up
to remove the funk
of a busy saturday morning.
and cut my hair.
i should do that first,
as it can get quite messy.
not that there's much hair to cut.
funny, i cut my hair shorter
than i cut my facial hair.
i may have to take a shirt
from the top of the 'dirty pile'.
people at the party won't know
it ain't clean, right?
i'll need to stop somewhere
to buy a bottle of wine.
is it poor form to buy a bottle of wine
i'd like to drink and
not a bottle the host might like?
i do this all the time.
this way i'll know
i'll enjoy at least one wine at the party!
and how boring to buy the same thing every time!
i see it as an opportunity
to introduce someone to something new
and wonderful.
if it's poor form,
then i'm a poor form superstar!

I Adore You. Yes, It's True.

today is cleaning day.
actually, cleaning day was last week,
but things got really messy since then.
so today is cleaning day revisited.
or redux. part two? i dunno.

and then i will try to make some shit.
to get the creative juices flowing.
i want to do some sculptural things!
i'd like to recreate something i saw online.
i think the original is made of wood.
i have no wood. i'll be using cardboard,
as i have quite a bit of the stuff
for this very reason.

also, i just bought two hoodies.
one black. one navy.

Oh Snap!

according to their myspace profile,
explosions in the sky are playing 5 shows
in 3 days at the great american music hall!
i'm guessing there's an error and
it's really 3 shows in 3 days.

Baby Second-Cousin

note the middle name. coincidence?
i don't think so.

Mama, You Been On My Mind

today was so stressful
and physically exhausting
i forgot to eat.
i fell into bed
as soon as i got home.
and i'm in a general funk lately.
my aspirations seem so distant
that it depresses me
and i stay inside, cooped up.
listening to dylan helps.
listening to dylan doesn't help.

Time Time

on second thought,
neither of those shoes
is speakin' to me.
once again, frugality wins.
for the greater good.

also, it is my opinion
that both csi: spin-offs
truly blow, in a serious way.
i don't know why i continue to watch them.

Mmm! This Is A Tasty Burger!

i chose the top pair.

why am i awake?
i woke up at 4:30 AM.
it's now after 7:00 AM.

i think jalapeno's is open now.
i could get a breakfast burrito.
no, i'm not going out in the rain.

i should return those library books.
i've had them since november, i think.
i can't renew the due dates again.
i'm sure they're already a day late.

they actually made another rambo movie!
john rambo looks fuckin' old.
judging from the trailer, it's real bloody.

today's to do list, random order:
(1) laundry. fresh and clean.
(2) hang new calendar.
(3) load dishwasher. yikes!
(4) clean/organize desk and drawing table. much better.
(5) watch blades of glory.
(6) return library boosk. should have done sooner.
(7) nap. so. much. better.
(8) learn the correct spelling of books. oh! that makes cents.
(9) art store.

i thought this might make me sleepy.
and i was right!
going back to sleep.
goodnight.
g'morning.

The Joy of Getting

oh boy! my moo minicards sampler came in the post!
all the way from the u.k.

oh boy! my stendig calendar was delivered!
all the way from nevada.

oh boy! my keihl's order was almost delivered!
all the way from n.y.c.

fedex can get through locked gates
and ups can not, apparently.
if they could, i'd have my gentle foaming facial cleanser!
wouldn't i?

From a Message Sent

today i walked to work
i thought i'd get whipped around by the wind if i rode my bike,
so i wrapped myself up in several layers, strapped on my warm water-resistant boots
and walked to work. it was more enjoyable than i thought it'd be. even without an umbrella.
it reminded me of being a kid and walking to the bus stop in my yellow rubber raincoat.
i didn't have an umbrella then either. boy-kids didn't carry umbrellas.
only girl-kids did that.

i even left home early
so i could stomp in some puddles!
