he'd like to wake up next to her tomorrow

lucky strike

funny. with my digital photographs, i'm always looking to crop and cut the best parts of each shot. with my film photographs, i'm looking for a complete composition within the entire frame. no cropping required. i think this means i'm more mindful of the subject at all times when i'm using film. digital lends itself to haphazardly shooting off shot after shot. random and less creative. film wins. hands down. i'm sold. no looking back. for now. maybe. all that being said, doesn't this photograph fucking rock? it sizzles. it. so. sessy!

but in my dream i slew the dragon

i have seven books checked-out from the library. i don't know why i thought i should take so many. maybe i thought if i did't take them now, they'd be gone next time around. i'm not sure, really. i feel obligated to read the first few pages of each book before getting too involved with one or two.

thirty-two years later

i woke up too early this morning.
i wanted to sleep until noon.
i stayed in bed for a while.
i daydreamed a little.
i staring at the ceiling.
i propped myself up to check the time, clock showed 8:30 AM.
i had birthday wishes on my blackberry already.
i got a text from sarah, wanting to get breakfast.
i told her i was going to noah's and peet's.
i said i'd meet her for breakfast.
i didn't know where we'd eat, since noah's was packed.
i told her i was walking, but i rode my bicycle.
i met her at peet's, where i got a coffee.
i was complimented for my hat. "nice hat."
i was craving an egg mit. she suggested corner stone.
i immediately said yes, seeing how it's my standby.
i got my usual sunrise omelette. she got eggs benedict.
i didn't finish mine like i almost always do.
i offered my leftovers to angela. she accepted.
i found myself another coffee.
i hung out with lisa for a while.
i rode my bicycle home.
i kicked my shoes off.
i started writing a blog post titled "thirty-two years later".
i thought it'd be cool to start every sentence with "i".
i am having a fine day.

Is your commute around town going well? Mom wanted me to check
on you b/c she hasn't heard from you. Call us.

for the past few days i've been trying to fight off a cold. the
other day, during my lunch break at work, i walked to walgreen's
to buy something to help get rid of it. i bought some dayquil and
niquil gel caps -except it was walgreen's brand. nyquil is expensive!-
the dayquil seemed to help somewhat during the rest of my shift. and
the nyquil must have worked, because i slept well that night. i haven't
used any of it since. but now that i'm writing about it, i think i'll
try it again today. i just have to find where i put the bag. this
weather isn't helping anything either.

i'm sure it's just as bad in sacramento. the other night the wind was
blowing so hard up the hill, the rain was coming in sideways. and it's
unpredictable and inconsistent. i've been caught in a downpour more than
a few times this week. yesterday morning, i had christina wake up at 5am
to drive me to work. i've done more than a few favors for her in the past,
so i cashed-in one of my favors of her. the rain doesn't bother me. nor
does having to ride my bike to work. but having to ride my bike to work
in the rain at 5am makes me want to have my truck again - sorta.

other than trying to figure out how i'll get to work in the early
mornings, the commuting thing has been going well. although it takes
much longer to get from one place to another. last week, i was coming
home from school when i realized i was supposed to meet some people
from my computer drafting class for a group project. i'd already taken
the busses halfway home. so i jumped off and waited for a returning
bus. i waited for at least 20 minutes! when i finally got back to the
school, the people were already gone. other than that, it's been
going well. no problems. i know, pretty much, most of the
busses and trains that can get me to the places i need to be.

i've been so busy with working and getting my final project done for
my product design class, i've lost track of days. and i haven't been
getting regular sleep. staying at school until they close the shop down
at 10pm, getting home after 11pm, then waking up as early as 4:30am is
beginning to take it's toll. but the funny thing is, i like it. it's sort
of fun. i like having to time my moves. finding out when the next bus comes.
giving myself time to get from one place to another. jumping off the train
when i change my mind about where i want to go. and not having to find a
space to park my truck. there's a sense of freedom that comes with
possessing a MUNI "fast pass". it's so cool.

i'll call you soon. and mom. but right now i have to go to school before
it starts pouring down rain again.

my new roomie

my sister found him scared and stiff as a board,
in the middle of a busy six-lane boulevard.
a city bus and two cars stopped.
my sister took him home.
she has two dogs.
so, no cats.

she called me today,
'i have something for you.'
i have never thought of myself as a cat person.
i want a dog, but 'no dogs allowed'.
i'm allergic to cats!

i haven't named him yet.
i've been trying to think of one
before he visits the vet this weekend.

i did a quick google search for 'blue-haired cats'.
i think he may be of a breed called korat.
his blue eyes should turn green
as he enters adolescence.
i prefer the blue.

It's the Magic In You

went to my aunt's & uncle's house for a birthday dinner.
my aunt cooked the deep fried shredded pork tacos
i love so much!
and she also made the fruit parfait
i love so much!
a houseful of aunts/uncles/cousins/sisters/grandmothers.
all of them there to celebrate my birthday.
it felt so good.
loved.

best gift i got was four $1 bills, from my 7-year old second-cousin.
she said she didn't have time to buy anything,
so she just gave me the money instead.
she asked me what i was going to buy with it.
told her, "i don't know, i might buy a bunch of stuff with it."

who wants a pistachio?

dreams of lemons & sporks

re: re: dreams of lemons & sporks
your argument is logical and valid, dear cousin.
but i must remind you that it was only a dream.
dreams aren't logical. aren't supposed to be.
they exist in your brain/mind. in their own
infinite universe/dimension/reality/space.
a logical dream would be quite boring!

and then there're nightmares. most of which
aren't based on anything logical whatesoever!
(e.g. big scary monsters, bunnies, etc.)

but i digress... what i mean to say is this:
my dreams have lemon trees that produce lemons
and sporks! lemon-flavored, spork-shaped sporks! yeah!

your favorite cousin
